Community Allotment Group
Co-ordinator: Jenn Baker
An inclusive group for people of all ages, skill levels and ability, who simply enjoy gardening.
BCOG volunteers will be on hand to provide friendly support and advice (if required), a cup of hot tea and biscuits!
Update from Jenn, 25 February 2021
After such a "locked-down" winter, we are soon hoping to make tentative plans for the coming season. The allotment has been ticking over during the past few months with several volunteers visiting regularly to make sure the weeds didn't take over! We have also had a steady trickle of new interest which means all the raised beds are now taken but there will eventually be plenty for people to do in the large traditional beds.
The really good news is that our splendid new polytunnel is now finished (see photos below). Many thanks go to Ian & Danny who did the bulk of the hard work - even devising an anti-gull system to stop the birds from pecking holes in the roof! There is staging along one side which will provide plenty of room for pots with storage space underneath. Can't wait to get planting!
Sadly, we still have to wait a little longer until we can start the regular sessions again, even in groups of six, but I shall let everyone know as soon as we get the go ahead. I do hope we get another good summer this year, so we can all enjoy a spot of gardening and a good natter!
